As a leader, you have the opportunity to not only influence the people in your following, but also other leaders.

A GREAT WAY TO DO THIS IS TO THROW A HOUSE PARTY.

WHAT IS A HOUSE PARTY?

A House Party brings like-minded people together to encourage and motivate them to engage their networks in this campaign. It’s an opportunity to dialogue about some of the challenges facing the nation and exchange ideas on how to participate in one of our most basic civil rights. Voter participation is rather low these days, and we want this to change!

WHAT HAPPENS AT A HOUSE PARTY?

  • Give your guests an overview of the Red Shoe campaign. We’ve made a PowerPoint presentation available, along with speaking notes. You can also show our promo video.

  • Exchange ideas for how to engage in this grassroots effort. Here are a few to start with: special emails, mentions in newsletters, links to Red Shoe Votes on your websites, social media sharing, distribution of print material in church bulletins/conference packets/etc., voter registration drives, conference call invitations and participation.

  • Take action:
    • As leaders, make sure you are personally registered to vote.
    • Using smartphones, laptops, or tablets, go ahead and pledge your vote.
    • Commit to encouraging your audience to pledge to vote.
    • Connect with 2 or 3 other leaders for partnership, accountability, ideas, etc.

  • You can also have a luncheon, tea, breakfast, or just have light snacks available.

HOW MANY PEOPLE SHOULD I INVITE?

That’s entirely up to you! Some people invite 100 guests; others choose to meet with a small, core group of influential friends.

WHAT RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE?

We’ve compiled a few things that might make your planning process easier:

Feel free to be creative. You know your friends better than we do! The main goal is to have fun and unite our efforts to get people to vote.
